Gone Fishing
You did not see me
Looking from the shade
When a wind
Cast a cattail
To dip its head
And splash back
Like a plucked string
Attached
To some invisible line
A spider's thread
Hung down from a cloud
That only showed
If you twisted your head
Slightly to the left
While cocking your eyes
Up, up, away
Forever in a day
Between
The dock and shore
Until the breeze
Tickled your ear
And dad
Called you to the boat.
